In the morning of October 7, DP President Renho visited the Embassy of Israel in Tokyo to offer her condolences on the death of former President of Israel Shimon Peres, who passed away on September 28 aged 93.
After signing the book of condolence, Renho met with Ambassador
of Israel in Japan Ruth Kahanoff. At the start of the
meeting, Renho stated, “On behalf of the Democratic Party, I would
like to convey our deep condolences.” Kahanoff expressed her
gratitude for these sentiments before going on to talk about
Peres. Following this, DP Upper House Diet Affairs Committee
Chair Kazuya Shimba, and Vice Secretary General Motohiro Oono, who
had accompanied Renho to the Embassy, joined in a discussion on
matters such as the importance of peace in the Middle East and of
encouraging political exchanges between Japan and Israel.
