On May 19, the DP decided on a new party logo.
The party received an enthusiastic response from the public to its call for ideas for a logo, with 3676 proposals for the new mark. Following Internet discussion, and voting on a shortlist by party branches, Diet members and official candidates, the final decision on the logo was made on May 19.
Party President Katsuya Okada expressed his thoughts on the new logo in a press conference, saying “It is a great logo full of energy that moves forward into the future.”
