On September 27, DP President Renho met with the President of the China-Japan Friendship Association, former Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan. 

At the start of the meeting, Renho showed her appreciation for Tang’s visit.  In return, Tang extended his congratulations on her election as party President, and expressed his hopes regarding the DP’s role in Japan-China relations.

In response, Renho touched on the continued importance of exchanges between Japan and China.  She also stated that she would urge the Japanese government to work to strengthen the bilateral relationship with China.

They exchanged views on a variety of issues, including the importance of public sentiment in both Japan and China and of communication between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by a member of the House of Councillors, Hiroe Makiyama, who was newly appointed as DP International Department Director-General.
