On the evening of February 23, DP International Department Director-General Hiroe Makiyama participated in a U.S.-Japan Friendship Reception hosted at the United States Embassy in Tokyo by Charge d’Affaires Jason Hyland.
Makiyama informed Hyland about the upcoming event, Café Democrats, the forum organized by the DP to inform diplomats about the party’s policies and political stance. Makiyama also expressed the importance of continuing to maintain a close dialogue with the U.S. regarding various political, trade and security issues. She also told him that she would like to learn from the U.S.’s rich experience regarding the systems of adoptions, which is being studied by DP politicians and others.
The meeting was also attended by Masaharu Nakagawa, Chair of the General Meeting of DP Diet members and DP Next Minister for Foreign Affairs Yukihisa Fujita.
