In the morning of March 16, DP International Department Director-General Hiroe Makiyama visited the Vietnam Embassy and met with Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong.

Makiyama once again expressed her appreciation for the Ambassador’s call on DP President Renho last year, and Nguyen conveyed gratitude for Makiyama’s visit to the Embassy.

Makiyama also expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome shown by the Vietnamese government and people to the Japanese Emperor and Empress on their visit to Vietnam earlier this month.  She added that when she herself had visited Vietnam she had been impressed with young Vietnamese people’s diligence and good manners.

Nyugen touched on Japan-Vietnam relations and the current situation in Vietnam, including issues such as the increasing unemployment amongst young people, and explained about events hosted by both nations, such as the Vietnam Festival.

Makiyama stated that the DP valued the relationship with Vietnam, and expressed the party’s intention of strengthening the already close relationship shared with the Communist Party of Vietnam.
