In the afternoon of December 2, DP President Renho paid a condolence call to the Cuban Embassy in Tokyo following the death of Cuban President Fidel Castro.
Cuban Ambassador-designate Carlos Pereira greeted the DP leader and expressed his appreciation for her visit.  Renho thanked him for these sentiments and conveyed her condolences.   Pereira mentioned the importance of the bilateral relationship between Japan and Cuba and stated that he hoped to strengthen relations with the DP.
The meeting was also attended by International Department Director-General Hiroe Makiyama.
