In the afternoon of January 13, DP Next Minister for Foreign Affairs Yukihisa Fujita and International Department Director-General Hiroe Makiyama paid a condolence call to the Iranian Embassy following the passing of former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

The pair were greeted by Iranian Ambassador Dr. Reza Nazar Ahari.  Fujita and Makiyama both conveyed their condolences to the Ambassador, and praised the achievements of Rafsanjani, for which Ahari expressed his gratitude.  After signing the book of condolence, Fujita handed over a message of condolence from DP President Renho addressed to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.  Ahari once more expressed his appreciation and said, “Please give my best regards to President Renho.”
